AKB48 is Japanese idol group formed by Yasushi Akimoto on 2005, this group is located in Akihabara Tokyo. The concept of AKB48 is “idol you can meet”, means that fans can meet them everyday. Because they are performing everyday in their own theater located in Akihabara Tokyo, they also perform primarily on television and regularly hold an event so that fans can interact with the member such as taking picture and handshake with the member. As December 2015 the member of AKB48 reach 130 member with the ages ranged from early teen to mid 20-s. AKB48 have several sister group located in Japan (SKE48, NMB48, HKT48, NGT48) and also worldwide such as in China (SNH48), Indonesia (JKT48), Philippines (MNL48), Thailand (BNK48) and many more.

AKB48 have several team and each team have their own concept such as, Team A represents freedom, Team B is idol-like with cute costume, Team K with strong and powerful image, and many more. There is a rule that AKB48 member should obey, members are not allowed to date, and must be well-behaved. Any violation of this restrictions will be punished, AKB48 also have a system that allow the member to “graduate”.

History

On July 2005, Yasushi Akimoto held an audition for AKB48, 24 girls were chosen as first generation member from 7924 participants. 20 members debuted as Team A AKB48 performing “PARTY Ga Hajimaru Yo” (PARTYが始まるよ) on December 8, 2005 with only seven audiences. On January 2006, AKB48 cafe waitress Shinoda Mariko joined Team A as 1,5 generation with special audition by Yasushi Akimoto.

AKB48 second audition was held on February 2006, 19 girls were selected out of 11892 applicants and 18 member debuted as Team K on April 2006. Then Team K performed PARTY Ga Hajimaru Yo and Team A performed new stage “Aitakatta”.

On February 2006, AKB48 released their first independent-label single called “Sakura No Hanabiratachi”. And this single entered top 10 Japan chart, with 22011 copies sold during its first week. On March 31, 2006 Usami Yuki becomes the first member to “graduate” from the group, and then on June 7, 2006 AKB48 released their second single called “Skirt, Hirari” with 13349 copies sold in its first day.

On October 2007, AKB48 held another auditions and 13 girls were selected from 12828 applicants.
